Brooklyn Center Community Schools

Centaur Broadcast is coming to Brooklyn Center High School this summer! If you're a Brooklyn Center high schooler interested in media, journalism, or production, this class may be for you! In this program, students will learn about media and journalism while actively contributing to the community through journalism by covering events/stories that matter most to them. Students will also share positive stories and create connections and awareness among students and community members. While also covering what is going on in the school community. The goal is to get enough students interested and involved to create a student-led news organization at Brooklyn Center! This course is being created by a Brooklyn Center alum (Class of 2020). Her name is Cheyene, and she is currently a senior at the University of St. Thomas, pursuing a degree in journalism and media production. Start Week of June 24th, 2024.

Students will find out about the components of a healthy and respectful lifestyle and ways to approach making healthy choices and decisions for their future. The lessons and activities are designed to introduce the student to a variety of important aspects of the main types of life skills including: emotional and mental health, social skills, consumer awareness, and physical safety.
