Centaur Beginnings is a DHS-licensed child care center that offers a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for our youngest learners. Serving children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, our program is thoughtfully designed to support each child’s growth through play-based learning, sensory exploration, and caring relationships. Our experienced and compassionate staff create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where children can build trust, develop independence, and begin to explore the world around them. Daily activities include hands-on experiences that encourage language development, motor skills, social-emotional learning, and early cognitive growth—all through routines that provide structure and comfort. Centaur Beginnings is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on regular school days and most teacher duty days, providing families with consistent, high-quality care they can count on. Centaur PlusCentaur Plus is a DHS-certified, fee-based child care program designed to support families with school-age children by offering a safe, structured, and engaging environment outside of regular school hours. We serve students in Preschool through 5th grade at Brooklyn Center Elementary School. Our program runs year-round and includes care during: After-school hours dismissal - 5:00pm Non-school days 7:30am - 4:00pm Summer break 7:30am - 4:00pm Children in Centaur Plus participate in a variety of enriching activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and physical activity. Daily programming may include arts and crafts, science experiments, outdoor play, group games, and quiet time for reading or homework. Our experienced staff work to build strong relationships with each child, helping them feel welcomed, supported, and excited to attend. Centaur PreschoolCentaur Preschool offers a full-day, DHS-certified program designed to provide 3-year-old scholars with a strong foundation for school success. Through an engaging, play-based curriculum, children explore the world around them with curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our program blends preschool learning, child care support, and social-emotional development to meet the needs of both children and families. Centaur Preschool operates as a combined classroom, where 3 to 5-year-old students learn and grow together in a supportive, inclusive setting. This model allows for peer learning, leadership opportunities for older students, and individualized support for each child based on their developmental stage. Full-day childcare for 3-4 year olds, and half day child care for those enrolled in Pre-K. Please note: Half-day child care is only available for children enrolled in Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK/Pre-K). Centaur Preschool is open from 7:30am - 2:30pm on all school days. After school childcare is available through our Centaur Plus program. Students enrolled in Centaur Preschool are not eligible for district transportation.

LEAP 21 is FREE for all registered students going into grades 6-9, and is funded through a combination of a 21st Century Community Learning grant and Targeted Services. The program is facilitated by licensed teachers and trained youth development professionals to ensure we offer a high quality program to our students. Monday-Thursday June 17-July 25 8:30am-1:00pm Location for all camps will be at the South Campus: 5951 Earle Brown Drive Brooklyn Center, MN 55430 Schedule 8:00-8:30 Breakfast 8:30-12:30 Camps 12:30-1:00 Lunch 1:00 Departure Breakfast and Lunch are provided daily for ALL students! Each camp will have at least one field trip per week related to their respective camps to increase student engagement.

Our Before & After Pre-K Child Care Program provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young learners and is designed for children ages 4-5, attending Pre-K at Brooklyn Center Elementary School. Our program offers structured activities that promote creativity, social development, and early learning, all while ensuring a smooth transition between home and school. In the morning session, children enjoy a warm and welcoming start to their day with quiet activities, storytime, and hands-on learning that prepares them for a successful school day. Our caring staff fosters a calm and supportive atmosphere to help children ease into their morning routine before starting their day at Pre-K. In the afternoon session, after a busy school day, children unwind with play-based activities, arts and crafts, music, movement, and outdoor exploration. Our dedicated and experienced staff ensures that every child feels safe, supported, and engaged in an enriching environment that fosters independence, creativity, and a love for learning. Whether before or after school, our program offers a comforting extension of your child’s school day, giving parents peace of mind and children a place to thrive. Transportation Information: Brooklyn Center Community Schools will provide transportation to and from Brooklyn Center Elementary (BCE) for students enrolled in both AM or PM Child Care and Pre-K who live within the district boundaries. Students who live outside of the district are also not eligible for transportation, regardless of program enrollment.
