Centaur Plus 

Centaur Plus (previously Bright Start) is a fee-based program that provides quality and engaging instruction in a safe and nurturing environment for after school care, non-school/release days, and summer programs for youth in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade.

All day care will be provided during Distance and Hybrid learning. Register

Centaur Beginnings Child Care

Centaur Beginnings (previously Baby Steps), is an on-site child care program for parenting teen attending Brooklyn Center School, Staff of BC and Pathways students. Care is provided for children 6 weeks - 3 years old.

STEP Summer 2021

Age group: Students entering grades 1-5 in fall 2021 at Brooklyn Center Elementary STEAM

Format: Onsite, in-person

Program dates: Monday – Thursday, June 21 – July 29 (no program Monday, July 5th)

Cost: Free

Transportation provided for those who qualify. Breakfast, lunch and snack provided to all participants.

STEP offers daily academic and enrichment opportunities. Licensed teachers, qualified youth program staff, and community partners will work with students to help them identify their interests and strengths and develop their academic skills. Students will be able to self-select clubs of interest from such areas as physical activity, music and arts, STEAM and more. 

This initiative is made possible with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) using federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers funding. Neither, MDE nor the U.S. Department of Education endorses the program or its services.

 



LEAP Summer 2021

Age group: Students entering grades 6-12 in fall 2021 at Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM

Format: Onsite, in-person

Program dates: Monday – Thursday, June 21 – July 29 (no program Monday, July 5th)

Cost: Free

Transportation provided for those who qualify. Breakfast and lunch provided to all participants.

LEAP helps students accelerate their skills in reading and math and offers exciting enrichment activities in such areas as arts, entrepreneurship, youth leadership, physical activity, STEM, and more! This summer, LEAP participants will select from a variety of engaging camp-style activities to personalize their experience. The program is led by licensed teachers and qualified youth program staff.   

LEAP Credit Acceleration is only for students entering grades 10 through 12 looking to take an elective course and free up their school year schedule.

Youth Enrichment

Brooklyn Center Community Education offers exciting opportunities for youth to learn and develop outside of school time. A wide variety of activities are delivered through fee-based camps, clubs, and events with qualified staff.
