Brooklyn Center Community Schools

Families enrolled in Centaur Beginnings can purchase up to two key fobs to access the child care center during drop-off and pick-up times. Fobs will be handed out on the first day of programming, and once your child's contract has been approved.

We are a 501c3 non profit enrichment center. Our goal is to provide a safe space for youth and their families to learn and connect to their community. Our aim is to bring intentional programs and events to youth and their families and build community connections. Fall Evening Program Details: Young Kings Corner Boys Group - This program offers mentorship for young boys coming of age, connecting them with male mentors who reflect their cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Day: Wednesdays Time: 4:30pm - 6:00pm Grades: 4-5 I AM HER Girls Group - This program offers group mentoring for young girls coming of age, connecting them with sheroes past and present who reflect their cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We identify character traits and create local service learning projects based on the sheroes who changed the world. Day: Thursdays Time: 4:30pm - 6:00pm Grades: 4-5 LIT Girls - This program aims to connect girls interested in leadership to women in the community and provide them with a community who supports, educates and connects them to leadership opportunities based on their passions and goals. Day: Mondays Time: 6:00 -7:30pm Grades: 6-12 Intentional Youth Hangout: The Intentions Enrichment Center will offer a safe place for an intentional hang out. Come be social with friends and receive leadership and STEM opportunities to spark new interests. Day: Tuesdays Time: 3:30pm -6:30pm Grades: 6-12

LEAP offers participants extra academic and exciting enrichment opportunities to enhance their learning outside of the classroom. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities in such categories as arts, music, physical activity, STEM, leadership and more! Participants will receive snack and dinner daily. Registration is accepted on a first come first serve basis.

The Community Education department will be hosting a monthly Parents Night Out for families of Brooklyn Center! Parents and guardians, you can enjoy a much deserved break while your children ages 3 years old to 5th grade participate in fun activities including, movie night, dance parties, games, arts and crafts! Dinner and snacks will be served at no extra cost. There is a flat rate of $20 for the evening for the first child with discounts for siblings!

STEP Summer Program is an additional academic and enrichment opportunity to accelerate a student’s learning from outside the traditional classroom setting. STEP at Brooklyn Center Elementary STEAM focus on academics, technology, enrichment, and health and wellness. The STEP summer program offers a variety of alternative learning techniques and experiences to enhance the academic environment. The main goal of STEP Summer Program is to give students the tools, techniques, strengths and confidence as a learner to be successful. Students are also able to explore and focus in areas of interest. Days: Monday - Thursday Dates: June 16th - July 24th Time: 8:00AM - 2:00PM Free breakfast, lunch and snack are provided Field trips are included with registration. Transportation provide to those who are eligible.
